Work to commence on 3 ADB Funded Projects worth Rs. 4.8b

KDAW was recently awarded 3 projects following International Competitive Bidding under the Integrated Roads Investment program by the Asian Development Bank.

The investment program will improve the accessibility of the road network in rural areas of Sri Lanka, and thereby increase the involvement of the rural population in nationwide economic and social development. The investment program plans to upgrade and maintain a total of over 2,200 kilometers (km) of rural access roads in the near future, to all-weather standard including a 3 year maintenance period.

KDAW was awarded 209 Km out of the 596 Km of the recently tendered projects, in the Galle and Hambanthota Districts.

1) Rehabilitation/Improvements of 63Km of Rural Roads in Galle District (RDA/ADB/iRoads(SP)/ICB/CP-PR(G2))
Contract Sum – Rs. 1,483 Million

2) Rehabilitation/Improvements of 74Km of Rural Roads in Galle District (RDA/ADB/iRoads(SP)/ICB/CP-PR(G3))
Contract Sum – Rs. 1,733 Million

3) Rehabilitation/Improvements of 72Km of Rural Roads in Hambanthota District (RDA/ADB/iRoads(SP)/ICB/CP-PR(H1))
Contract Sum – Rs. 1,583 Million
