KDAW recently signed the contract agreement and laid the foundation stone for the construction of a section of the Central Expressway Project – (section 2) from Meerigama to Kurunegala.
As one of the 4 lead partners for the Section 2 of the expressway, KDAW will undertake work on the longest section, Package C from Rangallepola to Maditiyawala at an initial contract value of Rs. 32 Billion.
This will be the second expressway in Sri Lanka that KDAW will engage work in and hope to deliver it on time and to the highest standards.

KDAW was recently upgraded to the new category CS2 from its current C1 status, by the Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA). Over the past 15 years the company has held the C1 status until CIDA implemented the new category. The CS2 status was awarded following a stringent audit of the company’s performance holistically and it is a testament to KDAW’s continuous effort to improve.
KDAW was recently awarded 3 projects following International Competitive Bidding under the Integrated Roads Investment program by the Asian Development Bank.
The investment program will improve the accessibility of the road network in rural areas of Sri Lanka, and thereby increase the involvement of the rural population in nationwide economic and social development. The investment program plans to upgrade and maintain a total of over 2,200 kilometers (km) of rural access roads in the near future, to all-weather standard including a 3 year maintenance period.
KDAW was awarded 209 Km out of the 596 Km of the recently tendered projects, in the Galle and Hambanthota Districts.
1) Rehabilitation/Improvements of 63Km of Rural Roads in Galle District (RDA/ADB/iRoads(SP)/ICB/CP-PR(G2))

2) Rehabilitation/Improvements of 74Km of Rural Roads in Galle District (RDA/ADB/iRoads(SP)/ICB/CP-PR(G3))
Contract Sum – Rs. 1,733 Million
3) Rehabilitation/Improvements of 72Km of Rural Roads in Hambanthota District (RDA/ADB/iRoads(SP)/ICB/CP-PR(H1))
Contract Sum – Rs. 1,583 Million
KDAW recently signed agreements for two new road projects in the Southern Province for rehabilitation and improvement work to be conducted on.
1) Galle – Udugama (B-129) Road
Contract sum: LKR 1,486 Million

2) Ambalangoda – Elpitiya- Pitigala (B-014) Road
Contract Sum: LKR 1,484 Million

KDAW was recognized for quality construction yet again in 2013 at the Sri Lanka National Construction Awards Ceremony held on the 5th of December.
